Privacy & your enquiry

How Magpie Family Law handles information provided through this website and the client portal.

Your information

Getting in touch

We collect the contact details, names and brief outline you provide so we can assess your enquiry, check for possible conflicts and respond to you. Please provide only a brief outline at this stage; you do not need to upload identity documents or detailed financial records with an initial enquiry.

Using the client portal

If Daniel invites you to the portal, we collect the information and documents you provide in the forms released to you. We use this information to assess or carry out the work you request, manage your engagement and keep a record of communications and actions.

Tell us how and when it is safe to contact you. Submitting an enquiry or receiving portal access does not by itself mean we have agreed to act for you. Daniel will discuss the work and costs before an engagement is confirmed.

Website and account information

The website and portal use technical information such as request logs to operate and maintain the service. The portal uses a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in. You can block cookies in your browser, but this may prevent the portal from working. This website does not include advertising trackers.

Service providers

We use service providers to host the website, store portal information and deliver communications. These include Vercel, Supabase, Microsoft and Twilio. Information needed to provide these services may be processed by those providers, including outside Australia.

Information may also be used or disclosed with your instructions, to carry out agreed legal work, or where required or permitted by law. We do not make your enquiry or private portal documents publicly available.

Keeping information

We retain information for the purposes for which it was collected and for applicable professional and record-keeping requirements. Access controls protect private portal records. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Access, corrections and questions

Contact Daniel if you would like to request access to your information, correct it, ask about retention or raise a privacy concern. We will consider your request and explain any limits that apply.
