Who gets to decide?

The changes to the Family Law Act, and in particular changes to ‘Parental Responsibility’, are a hot topic among family lawyers and parenting rights groups. But how does the law translate into practice?

A 2014 a survey of over 3,000 separated parents found that despite legally having equal responsibility for making decisions for their children, in practice almost all decisions were made by their mother.
